The prophecy names them: one day Kudamat, the First Doom will escape his earthen tomb with the help of his nine colossi, the Children of Godfell, to sunder the world, his hated prison, and tear down the sky like fabric.
Each is made from the god's very being. Kudamat crafts one with a fragment of his divine might when he finds a soul shard, and it stands guard over that shard — along with droves of accompanying aberrations — while he siphons the remainder of his power and searches for the rest. He grows stronger by the day, searching out the remaining pieces and building more colossi to guard them.
If left unchecked, he will reclaim the power of all nine shards and break his earthen shackles. Then, per the prophecy, this new generation of colossi will destroy the creatures of the Mortal Realm and make room for abhorrent creations to repopulate the land, sea, and sky.
